Foodily gives users a convenient way to search for tasty recipes online. There are already so many recipe resources out there, it can be hard to scour them all for the perfect variation. Foodily lets users search for recipes posted by numerous resources, including food bloggers and popular chefs. The user can find the perfect recipe that suits their taste and dietary preferences. The site also allows users to compare recipes side by side and review those enjoyed by friends. Foodily also lets users review specific criteria, such as ingredients, preparation time and calorie counts. The site lets users search for a specific recipe or browse a diverse list of recipe categories that range from dessert, cake and cookies to gluten free pasta, crockpot and Rachael Ray recipes.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

Foodily was founded by Hillary Mickell and Venu Javarappa. The site was intended to give users a better way to find delicious recipes online through a recipe network. The current Foodily team remains small, around ten individual including CMO Mickell, CTO Javarappa and CEO Andrea Cutright.

Foodily stands out in the way it gives users a number of helpful options. Rather than creating yet another recipe data base, Foodily helps bring together many popular recipe resources into one convenient network. Users can not only search for recipes, but learn about them to determine nutritional value and other details. How does the web app look and feel to use?

The Foodily website entices visitors as soon as they arrive. The homepage background features a changing image of delicious food. Deep red peppers appear one time, and on the net visit the background features a close up of plump purple grapes speckled with refreshing water beads. The site is very well organized, presenting the main attraction (a recipe search bar) right at the center of the homepage. Along the bottom, users can find a diverse collection of recipe categories to browse.

How does the registration process work?

Visitors to the Foodily website can begin their search for the perfect recipe as soon as they arrive. The search tool and categories do not require a log in to access. The site does not offer an official registration or sign up form, either. Users who also wish to tap into the social networking aspect of Foodily can do so by clicking on the small blue Facebook button and link in the upper, right hand corner of the homepage. A white drop down box will appear that can be clicked to allow the user to access their Facebook account. After logging in to Facebook, users can see what recipes their friends liked and share recipes as they find them on Foodily.

What does it cost to use the application?

Foodily is available to all users for free. There are no subscription fees or premium paid membership options at this time. Anyone can search for recipes and network through Foodily just by visiting the website and logging in through Facebook. Of course users may find that they spend more money in groceries as they find enticing new recipes that they simply must sample. However the site does not charge for access or usage.
